Con-Fusion Festival 2022 // La Trappe
How to build, organise, celebrate, learn and experiment at the same time?
For a small residency and festival, we collected 60 'cagettes' (wooden fruit crates) from a local market to challenge the possibility of building the festival's infrastructure with them. We found ways to assemble pairs of 6 as sturdy modules, which formed the buffet, the bar and a table. Several other assemblage sculptures from waste material were created, along with a sauna running on fire-heated heavy metal bushings. Three years later, many of the cagettes are still playing a role as infrastructure in the valley, proving to be very durable.
In rural France, in the valley of La Trappe, a growing international community gathers yearly for a week of experimentation, co-creation, collectivity and celebration. The guiding themes are contextual art and architecture, electronic music, sauna and good food around large dinner tables.
